I boarded the Seastar for a boat trip from Nieuwpoort to Diksmuide. 

From the hotel, I took the tram to Nieuwpoort Stad.  The journey took only about 25 minutes.  Along the way, I could enjoy the view of the seaside towns Koksijde and Oostduinkerke.  It must also be lovely to take a walk along the beach there one day.  The tram follows your route, so you can also return by tram if your legs get too tired.  

Departure from Nieuwpoort

We started our journey in picturesque Nieuwpoort, where the Seastar was already waiting for us. The captain greeted us warmly, and we felt immediately welcome. From the deck, we enjoyed a beautiful view as we left the marina.

Historical Heritage

During the boat trip, we reached the IJzermonding, a waterway that played a crucial role during the First World War. Upon arrival, we saw the monumental IJzertoren, an impressive memorial to the victims of the war.

The Charm of Diksmuide

Diksmuide is a city with a rich history. The Grote Markt with the town hall and the terraces was beautiful to see. For a refreshment, we visited the Brouwershuys located on the market square.  Definitely worth a visit. 

We explored the canals and admired the bridges connecting the city. Naturally, we also climbed the famous IJzertoren for a panoramic view over the city.

Return to Nieuwpoort

After exploring Diksmuide, we returned to the Seastar for the journey back to Nieuwpoort. As the boat slowly made its way back, we enjoyed one last look at the surroundings, the polder landscape, and the nature we had seen along the way.
